Season Summary
The seasons of 1944 and 1945 were devoid of crew competition, although, in some isolated cases, rowing enthusiasts used the equipment for informal practice.
A few months after Walz had been called into the Navy, Drewes entered the Coast Guard. In those few months, Drewes took over the Wisconsin varsity. The team went to two regattas and won both of them. Curt Peter Drewes then retired as the only undefeated crew coach in the history of the University of Wisconsin .
No “W” letters were awarded in crew in 1945.
In early June, the University of Wisconsin Foundation was formed with the filing of its articles of incorporation with the secretary of state.
